Application Deployment

The term Application Deployment describes a number of activities that are required to make a software system available for use. These activities include: Release – when the application is prepared for transfer to the customer site; Install and activate – establishing a form of command for execution or making sure that all supporting systems are ready to use; Deactivate – this reverses the activation process and is used to perform activities such as updates or removing obsolete systems; Uninstall – this removes a system that is no longer required; Retire – this marks the system as obsolete and completes the lifecycle of the software.
