A staggering 96% of those surveyed by application platform, KnowledgeKube, identified that more than a quarter of their processes were inefficient.

SMART CITY EXPO WORLD CONGRESS, BARCELONA – November 17 2015 –KnowledgeKube, the award-winning app platform, has launched 'my smart city app' to empower cities and citizens to create apps to improve quality of life via an integrated urban landscape. The initiative will allow users to access KnowledgeKube’s platform free of charge to rapidly prototype apps.

KnowledgeKube allows users to rapidly create apps without the need to write code. Its simplicity enables all users, with or without an IT background, to create web and mobile apps. This allows users to experiment and innovate without the costs, long timeframes and risk often associated with traditional app development.

Peter Robbins, Managing Director Mercato Solutions – creators of KnowledgeKube, said: ‘‘The demand for business apps is at an all-time high as digital has become the default for driving efficiency and productivity. Yet Smart City leaders are struggling to deliver on high technology aspirations given budget constraints, and critically, a global shortage of developers.

‘‘KnowledgeKube makes digital transformation accessible to non-developers by simplifying the creation of connected apps that integrate and leverage services and city data. Users can collaborate, innovate and help make smart cities a reality – all without having to write a single line of code.’’

'my smarty city app' has been born from positive results experienced across the Probrand Group, where diverse employee teams have owned and driven digital transformation themselves.

Probrand Group Commercial Director, Chris Griesbach, explains: "With the freedom to prototype apps as and when they wished, we have seen procurement, HR, marketing and tele marketing teams autonomously innovating in their roles.

"Teams have fed off each others entrepreneurial spirit as Proof of Concepts have been shared and this level of employee engagement has seen digital transformation spread like wild fire without pressure on IT.  The business is transforming and employees are driving it."

Available to the first 100 sign-ups initially, the ‘my smarty city app’ initiative will empower cities and citizens to create solutions to their own problems and innovate. Whether digitising and improving public services, boosting connectivity, or simplifying the lives of residents, cities and citizens are free to experiment without barriers.

‘my smart city app’ will be launched by KnowledgeKube at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, a smart city renowned for turning ideas into realities. The city was also named as the European Capital of Innovation last year.
